The rite of the “Generous”

The rite of the “Generous” of the village of Rog of the Soligorsky district has the status of an intangible cultural value. This rite has been preserved in the form in which our ancestors knew it. “Shchedrets” are held on the night of January 13-14 with the participation of traditional masked characters. Its peculiarity is the Grandfather-Ancestor and his birch bark mask, which has no analogues in Belarus.
