A church was built in the center of Smolevichi in 2008, and the only monument to St. Nicholas in Belarus is installed in the square next to it. Valentine is the patron saint of lovers: with one hand he holds a staff, with the other he blesses the newlyweds, who traditionally leave locks on the bridge – a symbol of loyalty. An interesting fact: the construction of the temple on a historical site was prevented by numerous trees in the square. But the hurricane wind uprooted most of the trees.
