The rite of “Shchedrets”

The original traditions of the celebration of the Generous or Generous Evening have been preserved in many parts of Belarus, the ceremony is always held on the night of January 13-14 on the Old New Year. Mummers walk through the streets of the villages, the accordion sounds, and the locals are happy to meet unusual guests. Everyone believes that if the carolers have visited the house, the owners will not have worries all year.
