The rite of “Gukanne viasny”

This Belarusian custom is one of the most cheerful and optimistic. To speed up the arrival of spring, this national holiday is arranged, which coincides with the church holiday – the Annunciation. Girls start to click on spring, they sing spring songs. The whole village usually participated in the ceremony: they danced, played and laughed to show how good it would be here in the spring. The peculiarity of this bright national holiday has always been and remains an extraordinary naturalness and liveliness. This ceremony does not have a clear plan of action, the main thing is to have fun, sing and enjoy life.
