“Yuray”

The regional folk holiday “Yuray” is celebrated every year on May 6 in the village of Obchin. In the morning, a divine service is served with the participation of an Orthodox priest near the roadside guardian Cross. And from the cross, the Yurov round dance of girls and boys goes to the rye field. In front of the round dance, a girl with a cake on a towel, which all unmarried girls bake together on the eve, decorate the loaf with birch branches with colorful ribbons. The hostess comes out of each yard with bread on a towel and bows to the round dance. When the loaf is divided, the pairs are determined, and the combined couples dance together for the whole evening of Yura.
