Ancient traditions of baking bread

In the villages of Kuzmichi and Zhorovka, the ancient traditions of baking are carefully preserved. Bread according to special recipes is baked here not only on weekends, holidays, but also every day. Lyuban housewives bake homemade bread of several types: “sitny” – everyday, “z prysmakami” – with various additives, “partisan” – with unusual ingredients (for example, ground acorns or tree roots) and “your bread” – exclusively according to your own recipe. The main ingredients for each type of bread are flour of two varieties (rye and wheat), whey or water, sourdough, seasonings, various additives. The most important thing is that bread is baked exclusively in a rustic brick oven.
