The castle Hill is a historical and cultural value, archaeological excavations have been carried out here more than once. Until recently, historians attributed the emergence of Kopyl as a settlement to the middle of the 11th century. A few years ago, the first mention of Kopyl as a graveyard city was found in the statutory charter on the creation of the Turov bishopric in 1006. The history of the city is inextricably linked with the family of the Olelkovich princes, who belonged to one of the powerful branches of the even older Gediminovich dynasty and for several centuries were the owners of the Kopyl land.
